In the last few days, I’m sure you have read some articles about leadership changes at Y&R. Let me give you the facts. As many of you already know, I am looking to hire a CEO of Y&R advertising. This search has been ongoing for some time. The new CEO will report to me in my role as Chairman and CEO of Young & Rubicam Brands. Y&R advertising and Young & Rubicam Brands have historically had separate CEOs. It is the right model and the way we need to move forward. First, it is a key step in building a strong management bench for the agency globally, one that can deal with both the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. It builds on the recent appointment of Gord McLean as North America CEO and Friday’s appointment of Massimo Costa as CEO in Europe. Second, it will allow me to focus on Young & Rubicam Brands, continuing on the progress we have made in creating the marketing communications company of the future. Our client partners increasingly need to engage their customers in innovative ways. In Young & Rubicam Brands, we bring together the talent and experience that are essential to meeting their changing standards and expectations. As a result, I am confident that we are successfully positioning our company to grow and build on its position of leadership in the marketing and communications industry.
